Which device the Game Boy used

GameShark — and which one a code was written for is not a detail. Each device encodes an address differently, and several changed their encoding between their own revisions, so a code written for one is not a code the other can run. Every code on this site records the exact format it belongs to for that reason.

Region and revision matter more here than the game’s name

A Game Boy game released in Europe, North America and Japan is three separate builds with memory in three different places, and a later revision can move it again. A code that is correct for one is usually wrong for the others, and being wrong means writing an arbitrary value wherever that address happens to point. Every code is filed against the game, region and revision together.

Playing the Game Boy in a browser
